I started exactly where you are.
A small garden. A lot of questions. No one to ask. That experience is exactly why I do this work — and why I believe anyone can grow, with the right guidance.
From a curious beginner
to a credentialed coach.
Hi, I’m Javier, and it all started in 2021 with a small patch of soil and a lot of determination. I was completely self-taught at first — learning through trial and error, through failed seedlings and surprise harvests, through the deep satisfaction of finally figuring something out.
That hands-on foundation led me to pursue formal training. I earned my Horticulture Certificate through UCLAx in 2026, became a UCCE Master Gardener, and a certified Master Composter. I also spent several years working on a farm — learning how plants behave at scale, how soil health shapes everything, and how organic methods aren't just better for the environment, they simply work better.
Today I bring all of that — the hard-won beginner lessons and the formal expertise — into every consultation I do. I know what it feels like to not know why your plants are struggling. And I know exactly how to help you figure it out.

— My Approach
Organic. Intentional.
Built to last.
Organic growing isn't optional — it's essential
We live in a moment that calls for us to grow differently. Healthy soil isn't just good for your garden — it's part of a larger ecosystem that supports birds, bees, pollinators, and the invisible web of organisms that all life depends on. Every organic garden is a small act of protection.
Urban growing is more possible than you think
A balcony. A raised bed. A sunny windowsill. Small spaces are not limitations — they're opportunities. With the right setup and the right methods, you can grow fruits, vegetables, ornamentals, and native plants virtually anywhere. I've seen it happen, and I can help you make it happen too.
You do the growing — I give you the knowledge
I'm not a landscaper who comes in and takes over. I'm a coach. My job is to give you the understanding and confidence to do it yourself — because the most rewarding garden is one you grew with your own hands.
I work with all plants — not just one kind
Whether you're growing tomatoes on a balcony, trying to establish a native plant habitat, or nursing a struggling ornamental back to health — I can help. Plants are plants, and good growing principles apply across the board.
— Who I Work With
You might be exactly
who I'm looking for.
You're a good fit if —
You want to do the work yourself — you just need to know what to do. You're curious, motivated, and willing to try. You care about growing organically and doing right by your environment. You have a small space and big ambitions for it.
I'm not the right fit if —
You're looking for someone to come in and do the physical work for you — that's a landscaper's role, not mine. My work is virtual coaching and expert guidance, not installation or maintenance services. If that's what you need, I'm happy to point you in the right direction.
